FOUNDER STORY

How Stable Guard Technologies Was Born — A Story That Began With One Colic

Sometimes it isn't ambition that pulls you into entrepreneurship — it's necessity. A situation where something isn't working, and you decide to change it.

Opening words

Hi, welcome to the Stable Guard Technologies blog. You'll find articles here that are sometimes practical, sometimes inspiring, and occasionally personal. We want to bring you a view into the world of horses — through the eyes of people who have done something in it, and those who want to push it further. And because this is our very first post, we'll start a little personally.

Who I am and how it all began

Like many of you, I had a childhood full of horses. Posters on the walls, a collection of figurines, a copy of Black Beauty, and my first rides on a pony. The classic story of a child's love for horses.

Except mine was paused for a while. At the riding school I was turned away — apparently I was too small to ride. It hurt at the time, and disappointed, I drifted into other sports. Years of study, travel, work and gathering experience followed.

But horses came back into my life — this time through my older sister, who got two horses of her own. As the "typical younger sister", I started helping out and spending more and more time at the stable.

And then came the moment many of you know well. The desire to have your own horse. Not just to ride — but to care, build a relationship, be together every day.

In 2021, Fine Lady came to me. A seven-year-old Oldenburg mare — big, strong, yet curious, intelligent and unbelievably warm-hearted. She became my partner, my teacher, and my best companion.

First ideas and the reality of stables

The more time I spent at the stable and among riders, the more I started noticing things that could be done more simply. More efficiently. More modernly.

The first concrete impulse came from an unpleasant experience — when one of my sister's horses got colic. We started looking into water intake, since a lack of water is often a frequent cause.

I had an idea: smart sensors in the water troughs connected to an app. Tracking water intake, alerts when there's a problem, real-time data on screen.

Great on paper — a problem in practice.

Most stables in Czechia and Slovakia are 30 years old or more. The pipes are often hidden in concrete or otherwise inaccessible. A solution that couldn't be standardised and easily scaled didn't make sense — neither technologically nor as a business.

So we kept looking.

The birth of Stable Guard Technologies

With the arrival of new technological possibilities — especially in AI — space opened up for something that had been on my mind for a while.

Everyday situations

  • looking up the date of the last vaccination
  • the farrier's bank account number
  • when the horse was last dewormed and which paste I used
  • when the dentist or the physio is due

And then the familiar scenario: you're heading off on holiday or a work trip, and you're typing a twenty-line message on WhatsApp. Feed rations, daily routine, rugs, instructions — everything to make sure the horse is looked after the way it should be.

From those moments came the idea of Stable Guard Technologies.

What we are building

Stable Guard Technologies is a mobile-optimised web app that helps horse owners handle care and management simply, clearly, and all in one place.

Our vision is a system that covers

We want to build a tool that works equally well for the owner of one horse as for a professional stable. And above all:

So nothing slips by, and everyone knows what to do. Monika Macenauer

Why technology in the equestrian world?

Today, technology is changing every industry. It simplifies work, saves time, and helps people make better decisions. Why should the equestrian world be the exception?

Our goal isn't to replace the human element. On the contrary — we want to help by saving you time on routine tasks, simplifying communication within the team, and giving you more space to focus on care, riding and strategic decisions.

On the blog we want to bring you regularly:
  • - tips from the world of horse care
  • - solutions to common problems
  • - inspiration
  • - stories of interesting people from the equestrian world

And at the same time, we'll be building a product that genuinely helps you.

Come along with us. We'd love for you to be part of this journey.
